MsChif: An Interview With Shimmer’s Shining Star!

MsChif: An Interview With Shimmer’s Shining Star!

I was recently given the honor of interviewing one of wrestlings top woman competitors. Her name is Rachel Donaldson, better known to the wrestling world as “MsChif”. She is the current Shimmer and NWA woman’s champion. Her work in the business today is second to none and it was an pleasure to get a chance to talk with her.

What was it that specifically got you interested in the wrestling business?

“Nothing specific really, just looked like a fun time and wanted to try it out.”

You obviously have a good head on your shoulder to get a degree in Genetics and to work in a microbiology lab. How does your passion for science compare to your passion for wrestling?

“How do you compare that? It’s two completely different worlds.  I wouldn’t want to leave either one for the other.”

Lots of wrestlers say that the character that they use in the ring is in ways their alter ego. Does theory apply to you, and what was the inspiration for you’re in ring character?

“Absolutely, Black Metal and Horror.”

You worked with Matt Sydal very early in his career. What was it like working with him and how do you feel about the way he is being used currently?

“Matt is absolutely awesome.  I always had a great time working with him.  I don’t get much time to sit and watch any TV though, so I’m not sure if they are using him well or not.”

Like Lufisto, you have also wrestled against a fair share of men in your career. I will ask you the same thing I asked her. The first time you wrestled a man, who was more nervous you or him?

“Probably neither.  I trained with men since the day I stepped in the ring.  The 1st guy I wrestled was always there for training too, so I’m sure he was already use to me.”

You have held a lot of gold throughout your career. Which title so far in your career so has been the most self satisfying?

“All of them.  The 1st one I ever held was the GCW light heavyweight title, which was the guys title so that felt like an awesome achievement.  When I won the NWA Midwest title there were many of the great women wrestlers trying to get at that title.  And how can you argue with the NWA World Women’s title or the SHIMMER Women Athlete’s title? Being the top women’s titles in the country that is also another awesome achievement.”

I will be honest and say that I only started getting into Shimmer a year or so ago. I have to say though; you ladies really put on a good show. This is the best woman’s wrestling I might have ever seen. I guess you can say I’m a noob when it comes to Shimmer.

“Is there a question here? :P  I hope you’re at least going back and getting the older volumes to catch up!”

(That was a lead up into the question below but since she commented on it I left it the way it was)

Would you agree with me though in saying that Shimmer is probably the best in woman’s wrestling today?

“Most definitely!  You can see that not only by our shows, but how TNA and WWE keep snatching up our talent!”

You spent some time in ROH, what was your experience with them like? Also, are you looking forward to seeing how Gabe’s EVOLVE turns out?

“ROH has always been a good experience.  I’ve always thought Gabe was a great guy with an extremely entertaining mind for booking.  I hope if it’s what he wants, then all goes well for him.”

You were recently ranked 4th in the top 50 for woman’s wrestling by PWI. How much of an honor was that for you?

“Incredible honor, there are a lot of great women wrestlers out there!”

It seems that TNA has really boosted up their Knockouts division. They recently picked up Saraya Knight which should also be another nice edition. Any chance we may see you head over there soon?

“Absolutely not.  I enjoy my freedoms too much to give up doing things the way I want to do them.”

Where do you see yourself in wrestling 5 or 10 years from now?

“Who knows?  Continuing on with how things are now.  I hold the SHIMMER title and the NWA World Women’s title.  Since I don’t want WWE nor TNA, you can’t get any higher than that.  Unless someone is willing to invest in SHIMMER and turn it into a TV show, that’s the only way you’ll see me hit national television.”

If you could wrestle against anyone past or present, male or female, who would it be?

“Banshee, yeah the one from the Marvel Universe.  Imagine the showdown with that! :D”
